As one of Ireland’s leading mezzo-sopranos, Victoria Massey commands an eclectic vocal repertoire spanning the genres of opera, oratorio, art song, and musical theatre.

Current and recent engagements include Dritte Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Opéra de Rouen, Handel’s Messiah in Oviedo conducted by Carlos Mena and the Principality of Asturias Symphonic Orchestra (OSPA), a Mendelssohn concert and the concert season inauguration of the Teatro La Fenice of Venice as contralto soloist of Beethoven’s Chorfantasie, her debut at the Maggio Musicale in Florence in the world premiere of Vittorio Montalti’s Le leggi fondamentali della stupidità umana and at the Ravenna Festival in Messiah.

Other career highlights include Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder with the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra, Das Lied von der Erde in Lisbon, Kindertotenlieder and Elgar’s Sea Pictures in Mexico City conducted by Jan Latham-König and broadcast on national television, Bach’s B Minor Mass at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, a recital at the Freemasons’ Hall in Dublin with Irish soprano Majella Cullagh, the world premiere of Graun’s Der Tod Jesu in Dublin as well as recitals in Limerick and Maynooth.

Victoria Massey has also appeared at opera houses and festivals such as the Macerata Opera Festival, Teatro La Fenice, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opera Ireland, Opera Festival Klosterneuburg, Chiemgau Summer Festival and the Belem Cultural Festival Lisbon.

Born in Dublin, Victoria Massey is a former student of the Hochschule Mozarteum in Salzburg and a first-class honours graduate of the Masters in Performance Programme at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.

Her voice can be heard on a number of RTÉ lyric fm recordings. As a seasoned performer, Massey is in constant demand for her pedagogical and adjudicating skills.
