One of the more infrequent contemporary achievements in this mostly popular season is a proposal made by our chief conductor Gabriel Feltz. Furioso for Orchestra by the Swiss composer Rolf Liebermann is an unusual work  and a real treat for music connoisseurs. We quell our intellectual curiosity with two classical repertoire achievements – Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 and Strauss’s masterful symphonic poem Death and Transfiguration, in which the composer effectively evokes the drama of the last human struggle: death and the salvation of the soul.
