The world’s greatest 20th century symphonist Dmitri Shostakovich has left us a legacy of 15 symphonic masterpieces. The road from his thesis statement, his First Symphony, to the very last symphonic work that sums up all of his professional and personal experiences, will be the focal theme of this concert led by the young Russian conductor Valentin Uryupin, a true successor to great musical icons as a former student of Gennady Rozhdestvensky.
