A CENTURY OF COURAGE

Maja Bogdanović, violoncello
Zoran Eric’s Six scenes-commentary is a work that has marked the recent history of the Belgrade Philharmonic, as it was included in the repertoire of the orchestra’s first Sweden tour back in 2006. Now almost 20 years later, we pay tribute to those times, with soloists of our orchestra – Miroslav Pavlovic, Ksenija Milosevic and Mirjana Nesovic. Maja Bogdanovic is yet again performing with the BPO, joining us in the centennial season for another premiere – this time with a concerto for cello and orchestra by the British composer Anna Clyne, an artist who, although young, has already received numerous nominations and awards. In 2023, according to Bachtrack’s statistics, she was the 10th most performed living composer in the world, and the most performed British female composer. The concerto for cello and orchestra Dance, recorded by the London Philharmonic with Marin Alsop, has over 8 million views on Spotify. For the second time in front of the Belgrade audience, Moritz Gnann will conduct one of his favorite pieces in the repertoire, A Hero’s Life by Richard Strauss.
