“Fantastic Philharmonic” is a new program for preschool children, which our orchestra performs in the period from November 5 to 10 in two concert terms a day. The Belgrade Philharmonic shows how famous fairytales inspired composers to create famous music, with the help of eight-year-old actress Andjelija Stajkić and our violinist Slavica Perić, as well as Nikola Zavišić, who directed and set up this program.
With Hansel and Gretel, The Sleeping Beauty, and Harry Potter, the Belgrade Philharmonic introduces children to famous scores in music history and their composers. Even difficult names such as Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov and Engelbert Humperdinck are easy to learn in the Philharmonic with the help of Andjelija and Slavica, who, in addition to teaching, also organize a crazy fun party. So, in the “Fantastic Philharmonic,” it is possible to listen to music while playing tag and other games.
Kids enjoy works they are already able to recognize, such as Tchaikovsky’s Nutracker Suite or Mozart’s Magic Flute. There is also Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee and Hristić’s Ohrid Legend, all under the baton of conductor Ivan Marković. In this way, children get to know composers, works and orchestral instruments through fun, with a lot of laughter, interesting jokes and tons of applause.
