Bassoonist Nenad Janković and his friends and colleagues are organizing a concert with a diverse program at the Belgrade Philharmonic Hall on Saturday, 18 May at 8:00 p.m. dedicated to Živan Šarčević, beloved musical instrument maker, a true professional, and a man with the soul and heart of an artist.
For more than 45 years of his professional career, Živan Šarčević has left a deep and significant mark, both in this country and abroad. He devoted his entire life to the bassoon, and he kept telling musicians that “God has already placed a bassoon into a tree, and they only need to take it out of there with respect and skill.”
“Zivan left us a year ago, but everything that he gave to the art of making these instruments will live on with us, filling us with pride and joy,” Nenad Jankovic, bassoonist in the Belgrade Philharmonic, said. That is why he and his colleagues will celebrate the birthday of this unforgettable bassoon builder, with a concert that includes the works of Bach, Prokofiev, Poulenc, Ravel and many others, also giving the audience a rare and unique opportunity to hear the sounds of traditional songs on the bassoon.
Admission to the concert is free.
