Aleksandar Sedlar (1982), a Belgrade-born composer, conductor, multi-instrumentalist and producer, is regarded as one of the most authentic and versatile musicians of his generation. He graduated as valedictorian at the Composition Department of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, in the class of prof. Vlastimir Trajković. He completed his master’s degree at USC Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles under the mentorship of prof. Donald Crockett and is currently completing a PhD study program at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade under the mentorship of prof. Zoran Eric. He also graduated in conducting at the same faculty, in the class of prof. Bojan Suđić.

His opus embraces a wide range of genres, from solo and chamber music to orchestral and vocal and instrumental music, the largest number of which were commissioned. He also composed music for theater, film, radio and television.

His chamber and symphonic pieces were performed all over Europe, in America, Australia, Russia, China and Japan, always with great success and positive response of both the public and the critics. As a composer, conductor and arranger, he collaborated with many renowned musicians, including violinist Nemanja Radulović, cellist Maja Bogdanović, soprano Patricia Petibon, as well as the Berlin Symphoniker, Orchestre National de Lille, and labels like Deutsche Grammophon, Decca Records and Warner Music Group. He also performs as a guest conductor at the Terazije Theater, where he also orchestrated musicals such as Mr. Dollar (2017), Sa druge strane jastuka (2020) and Flashdance (2021).

Aleksandar Sedlar is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts in Niš.

As a studio musician, Sedlar collaborated with the biggest names of the regional pop scene (Kornelije Kovač, Goran Bregović, Sanja Ilić, Zdravko Čolić and many others), playing guitar, bass guitar, piano and drums on over fifty records of various genres.

He is the original creator and leader of the group Sale i Sedlari, which released its first studio album for record label PGP RTS in 2021. The album is genre-diverse and includes rock, funk, jazz and blues.
