P. I. Tchaikovsky
The Tempest
P. I. Tchaikovsky
Rococo Variations
А. Dvorak
Symphony No. 7
Tchaikovsky’s two works, one symphonic, The Tempest, based on Shakespeare’s play, and the other a concerto, Variations on a Rococo Theme, form the backbone of our program with Armenian cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan, who features prominently on the world’s music stages with the best orchestras, conductors, and chamber ensembles. The finale of the concert belongs to Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, which, although less performed than his most popular Ninth New World Symphony, is, according to critics, one of the composer’s best achievements in that genre. The concert will be conducted by Maestro Howard Griffiths.
