Maržena Diakun, a young Polish conductor with an impressive career, will present herself to the Belgrade audience with a popular but diverse and interpretively demanding concert program. Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun and Richard Strauss’s early symphonic tone poem From Italy both represent the thematic framework of this program, in the center of which is the Armenian violin virtuoso Sergey Khachatryan. The winner of the Jan Sibelius and Queen Elizabeth competitions will play one of the favorite masterpieces of classical music written for this instrument: the emotionally charged and technically demanding Violin Concerto No. 1 by Max Bruch.
