The process of selecting the best young musicians to participate in the Philcademy – the first orchestral academy in November continues with auditions scheduled from 27 June to 1 July at the Belgrade Philharmonic Hall. Members of the Philcademy will be selected among more than 125 students from Serbia and the region, who will be given an opportunity to gain experience in orchestral performance side by side with experienced mentors from the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, and to appear with them in the final concert.

Before the audition panel, consisting of the concertmasters and the relevant section principals, candidates will play a programme carefully selected to reveal all the potentials and qualities required from an orchestra musician.

The best of them will go through individual consultations and separate section rehearsals with the mentors, followed by full orchestra rehearsals. They will have an opportunity to use the knowledge they gained immediately, in the final concert under the baton of Fabrice Bollon, on 12 November 2016. Shoulder to shoulder with the BPO players, the Philcademy will give young musicians a unique opportunity to gain entirely free experience of orchestral performance and learn from artists with huge orchestral and teaching experiences.

By sharing their knowledge acquired by working with today’s best conductors and musicians as part of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra’s concert seasons, orchestra members will work committedly with the trainees on all aspects of orchestral performance. Through this project, the Belgrade Philharmonic aims to contribute to promoting the concept of on-the-job training in the educational system and foster future generations of BPO musicians.
