Violinist Gregory Ahss started to play the violin at the age of 5 at the Gnessin school of Music in his native Moscow. He continued his education at the Israeli Music Conservatory, Tel-Aviv Academy of Music and the New-England Conservatory of Music where he studied under Lena Mazor, Irena Svetlova and Donald Weilerstein. He was awarded the American-Israeli Cultural Fundation scholarship. Whilst still a student, Gregory founded the Tal Piano Trio which won numerous prizes. As a soloist Gregory has performed under Claudio Abbado, Yannick Nezet Seguin and Daniel Blendulf with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Mozart Bologna and Camerata Salzburg. He is the concertmaster of these orchestras.
 
His chamber music partners include Natalia Gutman, Sabine Meyer, Gautier Capuçon, Valentin Erben and Daniel Hope, with whom he performed Bach and Vivaldi double concerti.
 
Gregory has appeared regularly as a guest concertmaster with the London Symphony Orchestra, Symphonie Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal as well as the Bamberger Symphoniker, Bayerisches Staatsorchester, WDR Koeln, Orchestra dell`Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and Orchestra Mozart. Gregory was concertmaster of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra from 2005 until 2011. He is concertmaster of Camerata Salzburg and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.
