Jelena Matović

Jelena Matović was born in Čačak in 1989. In 2006 she graduated from the Ćuprija School for Musical Talents in the class of Prof. Ljiljana Ranković, as the best student in her generation. She completed her basic academic studies at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, followed by master’s and specialist studies in the class of Prof. Gordana Matijević Nedeljković. She received an award from the “Miodrag Macić” Fund as the best second-year violin student in academic year 2007/08, as well as an award from the “Meri Žeželj-Majer” Fund as best third-year student at the violin study group at the concert department in academic year 2008/09. In academic year 2009/10, she received the “Merima Dragutinović” Award as the best student to graduate in the group for violin.
During her schooling she performed at numerous concerts, including a solo performance at the BEMUS (Belgrade Music Festival) in 2004. She was a member of the “International Symphony Orchestra” in Florence in 2004 and 2005. She attended various courses (Grigori Zhislin, Midori Goto, Nemanja Radulović …), as well as the summer school in Semering, Austria in 2007 with Prof. Hagai Shaham. She has won numerous special and first prizes at national and federal-level violin and chamber music competitions. She has also won several national-level competitions.
Her awards at international competitions include Second Prize at the International Violin Competition in Paris in 2001, First Prize and winner of the International “Petar Konjović” Competition in 2002 and 2005, First Prize and Gold Medal at the International “Petar Toškov” Competition in 2005, Third Prize at the “Ohrid Pearls” International Competition for Young Musicians in Ohrid in 2006, as well as a Special Award at the International String Competition in Niš in 2007. She has performed numerous successful solo concerts at the SANU (Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences) Gallery, the Kolarac Endowment Gallery, etc.
During her music training, she also participated in a project at “La Scala” in Milan in 2010.
