Thursday – Day for Fond Memories: First One Dedicated to Zagreb
The Pika-Točka-Tačka concert series is the first project of institutional cooperation in the field of culture between Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia. Throughout three seasons of mutual touring, the three philharmonic orchestras spread the joy of re-established relations.
We are especially reminded of the Belgrade Philharmonic’s last concert at Zagreb’s Vatroslav Lisinski Hall on May 2014, which, because of its humanitarian character, was the highpoint and true epilogue of this regional cooperation. The performance was filled with special emotions because the Belgrade Philharmonic played for the region. The concert was dedicated to collecting donations for victims of the floods that devastated the populations of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, and Croatia.
In the week when Zagreb was hit by an earthquake while fighting against the pandemic that has affected us all, we send them all our support and our memory of the concert finale at Lisinski.
The concert was conducted by Muhai Tang, then chief conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic, who stood back at the end of the concert to allow the musicians of the Belgrade Philharmonic to play the Grlica dance from the ballet The Legend of Ohrid by Stevan Hristić — all on their own!
