Branimir Vulić was born in Zemun in 1985. At the age of seven, he began to study the violin at the “Kosta Manojlović” music school. When he was 11, he began to study the double bass with Professor Borislav Lalović. During his education, he participated in numerous national and international competitions, where he won first prizes. He was a member of the “Borislav Paščan” Youth Philharmonic. In 2004, after successfully auditioning, he became a member of the YMISO (Young Musician’s International Symphonic Orchestra). After graduating from high school, he continued his studies at the FMU (School of Music Arts) in Belgrade, with Prof. Nebojša Ignjatović. In 2006 he continued his studies at the Academy of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana, where he graduated in the class of Prof. Zoran Marković. He has actively participated at the following seminars: Zoran Marković (Slovenia), Alberto Boccini (Italy), Božo Paradžik (Switzerland, Germany), Miloš Bubeniček (Czech Republic), Franco Petracchi (Italy), and Rick Stotijn (Sweden, Germany). He has collaborated with many orchestras: the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic String Chamber Orchestra, the RTV Ljubljana Orchestra, The Maribor Opera, the Sofia Philharmonic, Classic FM Sofia, Camerata Orphica, and the SFK Symphony Orchestra (Austria). He was a permanent member of the Festina Chamber Orchestra as the principal double bass, and the “Bass Chorus” bass quintet, with which he recorded a CD in 2008. In 2009 he auditioned successfully for the “Jeunesses musicales” World Youth Orchestra. From 2010 to 2016 he has taught double bass at the Kranj Music School and at the KGBL (Conservatory of Music and Ballet) in Ljubljana. Since 2016, he has been the principal double bass at the Sofia Opera, with which he toured in 2018 in Moscow (Bolshoi Theater) and Japan (Tokyo Bunka Kaikan concert hall).
