Aleksandar Madžar, the most successful Serbian pianist, of international fame, will be playing with the Belgrade Philharmonic once again at Kolarac Hall, on Friday, October 4, at 8:00 p.m.  Together with the Belgrade Philharmonic, conducted by Cristian Mandeal, Madžar will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4. The program will also include compositions by Franz Schubert and Sergei Prokofiev.

This concert opens our series #beethovenrules, which deals with the composer’s unmatched skills as a soloist. Beethoven was one of the greatest pianists of his time; he was an accomplished violinist and he also played the cello.

A favorite of the local audiences, Aleksandar Madžar is the perfect choice to open our series, which focuses on solo brilliance. As part of his rich and diverse career, Madžar has been performing all over the world on a regular basis and now, after a hiatus of several years, with the Belgrade Philharmonic, he will be playing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, a firm piano literature favorite, first performed in public by Beethoven himself.

In addition to being frequently performed and recorded, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 is considered as one of the central achievements of this genre and its second movement is among the most beautiful in music literature. The concert program also includes excerpts from Schubert’s incidental music Rosamunde and Prokofiev’s Seventh Symphony.

One hundred standing tickets will be on sale at the Kolarac Box Office from 7:00 p.m., one hour before the concert.
