Nikolai Lugansky, one of the best pianists in the world, will be performing with the Belgrade Philharmonic at two evening concerts, at Kolarac Hall, on October 4 and 5 (8 p.m.). Under the baton of Conductor Alexander Vedernikov, this renowned pianist will perform Brahms’ Second Piano Concerto and Symphony No. 2 by Jean Sibelius – a work that has a special significance in the Belgrade Philharmonic’s repertoire.

A firm favorite of the Belgrade public, Nikolai Lugansky is one of the last representatives of the Golden Era of Soviet pianism. He holds recitals all over the world, he is a regular guest at the most prominent world festivals and performs in chamber ensembles with the greatest names of classical music. The last time he performed with the Belgrade Philharmonic was in 2014. On this occasion, the audience can look forward to fifty minutes of monumental pianism in his performance of Brahms’ Piano Concerto.

Sibelius’s Symphony is the composer’s magnificent response to the theme of his people’s struggle for freedom. The Belgrade Philharmonic will perform this composition for the first time since its 2014 US tour, when it presented itself in the “New World” – this time, conducted by Alexander Vedernikov, one of the most authentic conductors ever to lead the Belgrade Philharmonic.

Once again, we have prepared a series of selected concerts from our regular season, to be held on separate evenings, this year, called Hanging Out (With the Belgrade Philharmonic). In this way, the day before our regular Friday concerts, the new audience can “hang out” with the Philharmonic and hear the most attractive concerts from our regular season.
