Jeannette Wernecke is a German coloratura soprano and has established herself at many opera houses in Germany and Switzerland with such roles as Lulu (Lulu), Zerbinetta(Ariadne auf Naxos), Adina (L’élisir d’amore), Cunegonde (Candide), Fiakermilli (Arabella) or Queen of Night (Magic Flute). Praised by the press for her “silver timbre and brilliant coloraturas” the Opernwelt magazine even nominated her as Best young singer.

Already during her singing studies she made her opera début at Staatsoper Stuttgart with the title-role in Ernst Toch’s The princess on the pea and sang the main female part in the German première of Friedrich Cerha’s Der Riese vom Steinfeld in Krefeld which also reflects her early affinity for demanding contemporary music.

From 2004 – 2010 Jeannette Wernecke has been a member of the ensemble of the Theater Krefeld/Mönchengladbach. She also collaborated with the theatres in Stuttgart, Dortmund, Luzern, Halle, Bonn, Augsburg, Bremen, Lübeck, Rostock, Cottbus,Hagen, Aachen, Bielefeld and the Opernfestival Heidenheim.

Apart from opera the soprano is regularly heard in oratorios and concerts and performs with orchestras like Staatskapelle Halle, Dortmund Philharmonic, Klassische Philharmonie Bonn, Niederrheinische Sinfoniker, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, Philharmonie Südwestfalen, Vogtlandphilharmonie, Stiftsorchester Stuttgart, Kammerphilharmonie Rhein-Main, Johann-Strauss-Orchester Kurpfalz and Alt-Wiener Strauss-Ensemble Stuttgart. She was several times a guest at the Händelfestspiele in Halle and at the Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival. In 2011 she appeared in Mahler’s 4^th Symphony with the Stuttgart Philharmonic, in a performance released on CD.

Jeannette Wernecke is also very much at home in the genre of musicals and Jazz.  Since 2011 she is part of the Munich’s  Bigband Fink & Steinbach.  In 2012 she sang the title role in the Jazzmusical Rosaly or the girl made of glass and in 2013 she was engaged in the Musical The Swinging Detective. Regularly she takes part in big cross-over productions.
