The formal closing of the Belgrade Philharmonic’s concert season at the Kolarac Concert Hall on 15 June, at 8:00 p.m. will feature two legendary film scores: “Star Wars” and “2001 – A Space Odyssey”, which the orchestra will also perform a few days later, at its big open-air concert under the stars. Between these two monumental pieces of music, conducted by Maestro John Axelrod, the concert also features David Guerrier – a prodigious musician on two instruments.

Numerous enthusiasts of “Star Wars” will be able to hear one of the most famous film scores ever written. Composer John Williams has created a musical portrait of the brave Jedi Luke Skywalker and the gentle Princess Leia, and the entire suite is a tribute to numerous composers, including Richard Strauss. A major influence on George Lucas and his vision of the Star Wars universe was “2001 – A Space Odyssey” by Stanley Kubrick, and one of its main themes “Thus Spake Zarathustra” by Richard Strauss. Tens of thousands of people attending the Belgrade Philharmonic’s free open-air concert in New Belgrade’s Block 13, near the Ušće Grounds, on 24 June, will be able to hear this celebrated masterpiece of classical music.

Between these two monumental compositions, the Belgrade Philharmonic also presents a special musical attraction – David Guerrier and his rare skill. This soloist will first display his virtuosity on the horn in Weber’s concertino, and later on the trumpet in the concerto by Tomasi.
