Korean piano star Yeol Eum Son will be performing with the Belgrade Philharmonic under the baton of Howard Griffiths, at the Kolarac Concert Hall on Friday, 18 May, at 8:00 p.m. The audience will have a unique opportunity to hear the rarely performed Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by A. Dvorak, in addition to the Midday Witch, also by A. Dvorak, and Symphony No. 3 by F. Schubert.

Very popular among international orchestras, Yeol Eum Son has regular cooperation with distinguished conductors such as Valery Gergiev and Dmitri Kitayenko. The artistry of the Korean piano star has been awarded at the famous Tchaikovsky competition, and besides being praised by critics, she attracts public attention worldwide with her exciting performances. For the Belgrade public she will perform Dvorak’s virtually unknown piano concerto, which has raised considerable curiosity also among the musicians of the Belgrade Philharmonic, who will be performing this work for the first time.

The program begins with the Midday Witch by Dvorak in which the oboe “plays the part” of a disobedient child, while the orchestra is the mother who threatens to summon the Noon Witch if the son does not behave. Dvorak was one of the composers who admired the creative opus of F. Schubert, whose Symphony No. 3 will crown the Belgrade Philharmonic’s Friday concert program. One hundred tickets will be on sale at the Kolarac Box Office one hour before the beginning of the program.
