The Belgrade Philharmonic will formally open the 43d NOMUS (Novi Sad Music Festival) with a concert in the Serbian National Theater in Novi Sad, on Thursday, 19 April. Together with piano star Alexander Gavrylyuk, and conductor Dania Raiskin, the orchestra will perform well-known classical music hits – Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and Stravinsky’s “Fireworks” and “The Firebird.”

Alexander Gavrylyuk is a pianist of the younger generation. He is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes from the most significant music competitions and is one of the most sought-after soloists today. He will perform Rachmaninoff’s famous Concerto No. 3, and as he has written on the social media, he can hardly wait to play all 29,656 fantastic notes of this concerto with the Belgrade Philharmonic.

In connection with the formal opening of the NOMUS, Ivan Tasovac, the director of the Belgrade Philharmonic, said: “For us Novi Sad has always been a special and precious destination on the cultural map of Europe, not only for its Matica Srpska Gallery, which gives the whole city a special quality, or the Per.Art noble mission, the Novi Sad Theater/Ujvidek Sinhaz, or the NOMUS, which is definitely unrivaled among festivals of classical music in Serbia, but also for its refined and sincere public. The Musical Youth is an organizer and promoter that sets an excellent rhythm to musicians from the whole world to present themselves publicly and measure up to their competition. That is why every concert in Novi Sad is a huge responsibility and honor for the Belgrade Philharmonic, but above all, it is a great pleasure.”

“Serbia is not only Belgrade, which is why it is wonderful when we are able to visit audiences in other towns and show the results of our work at as many concerts as possible. It is impossible to forget the success we achieved in the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow. That is why I am happy to be performing with the Belgrade Philharmonic, as the leading institution of Serbia’s musical culture, not only in Belgrade, but at distinguished festivals such as NOMUS,” Daniel Raiskin, the Belgrade Philharmonic’s permanent guest conductor, said.

The Belgrade Philharmonic performs regularly at the Novi Sad Festival, and it will perform the same program for the Belgrade public one day later, as part of its regular concert season, in the Kolarac Hall (on 20 April, at 8:00 p.m.).
