The Belgrade Philharmonic String Quartet and flutist Jelena Draškoci will open the Days of Filip festival with a concert at the Niš Symphony Hall on 13 June, 8pm. The music festival is named after the flutist Filip Čavara and it is the result of his friends’ dedication to honour the memory of their prematurely deceased fellow musician.
 
The Days of Filip will gather both young talents and distinguished artists, who will be giving free concerts at various venues in Niš for four nights. In addition to the concert programme, the festival also includes the learning programme, in which the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra’s principal hornist Nikola Ćirić, who is also a member of the festival’s organization team, will hold a workshop “No Stress Musician” for all young musicians, as well as a seminar for French horn players.
 
“It is a great honour for us that the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra has supported the Days of Filip. Besides contributing to the festival’s significance, their participation is also an indicator of how much the orchestra is investing in decentralization and proves that it belongs to everyone, not just to the City of Belgrade”, said Nikola Ćirić.
 
The members of the String Quartet – Jelena Dragnić, Vladan Lončar, Boris Brezovac and Aleksandar Latković will play Despić’s Homage to Mokranjac and Beethoven’s Serioso quartet. Then, they will be joined by their fellow BPO musician Jelena Draškoci for Boccherini’s Flute Quintet.
