The Belgrade Philharmonic is preparing a special program for a concert dedicated to the music of Ennio Morricone, for this Friday (Nov 24). Conducted by film music specialist Frank Strobel, the orchestra will present a program showcasing Morricone’s scores, with some pieces having their concert premiere precisely at this Philharmonic performance.

Immediately after returning from a highly successful tour in China, the Philharmonic is ready to greet its dedicated audience at Kolarac with one of the most popular programs of the season. At a concert dedicated to the legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone, the orchestra will be led by Frank Strobel, who is one of the finest European conductors when it comes to the genre of film music. The program will combine classics such as scores for “1900”, “The Hateful Eight” and “The Mission”, parts of which will be performed for the first time in a program curated by the Europäische FilmPhilharmonie in cooperation with the Official Ennio Morricone Legacy Company and the Ennio Morricone Estate. For this performance, the Belgrade Philharmonic will be joined by RTS Choir and Choir Obilić.

They are all my children… every score I’ve done — answered Ennio Morricone when asked about his favorite movie score. After composing scores for over 500 movies and TV shows, from prestigious to less known productions, and with over a hundred concert works, this composer’s answer represents an artist’s integrity, from someone who never intended to be a score composer, but found in movies the true canvas on which he could express his creative freedom and nurture his genius,” stated Fernardo Carmena, Europäische FilmPhilharmonie’s Creative Director.

The concert is completely sold out, but standing tickets will be available for purchase one hour before the performance, ie. from 7PM at the Kolarac ticket office.
