In celebration of its centenary, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra has published a monograph authored by Asja Radonjić and Danica Maksimović, longtime program editors at the institution. Created and released as a special contribution to the orchestra’s milestone, which was marked in the last philharmonic season 2023/24, this commemorative edition is now available for purchase, exclusively at the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra’s ticket office at Studentski Trg 11.

Spanning 260 pages and ten chapters, the monograph chronicles the history of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, tracing its journey from modest beginnings to becoming a modern European ensemble.

Over its first 100 years, the orchestra has come a long way, facing multiple ups and downs, traveling the globe, and living through periods of isolation due to sanctions and war. It has performed under inhumane conditions but has also received standing ovations in the worlds greatest halls and cultural temples, the authors note in the opening of the publication.

Co-authors Asja Radonjić and Danica Maksimović have been shaping the artistic direction and programming of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra for the past twenty years.

In addition to being a valuable resource for future researchers of the Belgrade Philharmonic, the monograph presents the institution’s history in a lively, engaging way, enriched with various fascinating facts under the section Did You Know. As one of Belgrade’s, and indeed the nation’s, most beloved cultural brands, the monograph also features reflections from 100 prominent individuals, offering their unique perspectives on the orchestra’s significance in a broader cultural context.

The visual design of the monograph was crafted by renowned designer Slavimir Stojanović Futro, who added his signature touch by portraying the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra as an institution that has brought vivid color to the black-and-white world of classical music.

The monograph is priced at 5,950 RSD – for payment details, please contact our ticket office at 011/2630-744 or e-mail address karte@bgf.co.rs.
