Baby Mijat, only 20 days old, makes it to the Belgrade Philharmonic

The Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra has successfully wrapped up the first cycle of concerts for babies in its new season, welcoming its youngest audience from September 17 to 20, at the renown Philharmonic Hall. In this seventh season of these beloved baby concerts, the orchestra, conducted by Vuk Volkov-Popović, performed a charming program titled My First Symphony, featuring Beethoven’s energetic Symphony No. 1.

During these 30-minute sessions, babies up to two years old enjoyed the symphonic debut masterpiece of the great composer. The Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra demonstrated once again that even the tiniest listeners can appreciate symphonies and the music of Beethoven. Throughout the entire performance, there was dancing, jumping, and playing on mats laid before the orchestra, with many babies showing a keen interest in conducting!

The star of this cycle was little Mijat, who at just 20 days old, became the youngest baby ever to attend a Belgrade Philharmonic concert. This seventh season also saw the return of familiar faces, including Đina, who has grown up attending the Philharmonic’s concerts and hasn’t missed a single one since she was a baby. This week, she actually listened to Beethoven’s symphony every single day.

The next cycle of the Philharmonic baby concerts will be held from February 11–14, followed by another from April 15–17, and concluding with a final cycle from May 6–9, 2025. Tickets will go on sale a week before each cycle, available both at the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra’s box office as well as online.
